According to the records of Gaziantep Museum Directorate, Naip Turkish Bath which was built in 1640 was also mentioned about in the Travel Book of Evliya (Dervish) Çelebi. Having functioned as its original until a short time ago, this building has been closed for restoration. Being one of the unique works of art in Gaziantep, Naip Turkish Bath is the flower of the city in respect to its situation and architecture. Once its restoration is completed, it shall be opened for use as a Turkish bath again, and shall continue to witness the history by both its name and function. In this regard, the Turkish bath not having been restored or maintained for 80 years, shall be renovated, and shall gain its functions again by its restructured environs. By the arrangements in the neighborhood, its location will also be gain importance. Turkish bath traditions of Gaziantep shall be presented by entertainments reflecting the traditional Turkish bath culture in Gaziantep.
In addition to the protection of original state of the historical Turkish bath, a few additional places are required when the contemporary conditions of nowadays are considered. The bath shall become a place that needs the modern demands as well as the traditional Turkish bath culture by completing the WC- changing rooms- shower, sauna, massage, skin care, gymnasium, and kitchen departments built in early 20th century and found in here and there. |
